One of the many perks of working at a record store in the late 80’s/early 90’s was grabbing the promotional CD’s that got sent to the store. After a few weeks of playing them in the store they were up for grabs. I’ve never been picky, and actually like a broad range of music, so these were great additions to my collection, and did expose me to some bands that I would continue to enjoy.

The Theodore collection was from Epic/Columbia, and I still have the Stanley edition in my (diminishing) possession.

One thing I particularly liked was the rare versions of some songs they’d put on there. The variety of genres is just fantastic. Indy rock, folk, punk, reggae, rap, funk. Just something that you can put in the car and listen to an hour’s worth of diverse unique music without commercials – before there were streaming services. I don’t think there’s any algorithm that would offer these songs on a playlist of multiple hours.

These are not available on Spotify, but I’ve linked to the individual songs that I could find (many of which aren’t the exact versions, but I’m not going to upload the CD anywhere at this time). Asterisks indicate the specific tracks that stood out to me at the time.
