In 2018 I took the kids up the shortest of the 4,000′ peaks in the White Mountains, Mt. Tecumseh (no idea on the pronunciation). I had climbed the mountain a year or two beforehand, but always had doubts if I had reached the actual peak, as upon review of reading materials after the fact, I learned there was a false summit, and then a long shoulder to the actual highest point. My solo trip was a cloudy dreary day, and I was looking forward to turning around. Having the nagging suspicion that I had cheated it, and needing a family activity, I figured we’d tackle it together as a group.
