Slowly working my way through the New Hampshire 4,000 list (I’ve done the tallest and the shortest so far), the summer of 2020 gave me the opportunity to complete Mount Moosilauke with my son. We were able to watch the weather and grab a beautiful day for the hike and really enjoyed the trip. Less than three hours from the house, we had breakfast at home, packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and snacks, hit the trail around 10:30 and had lunch on the peak around 12:30, enjoying some fantastic views of mountains from the Presidential Range and Franconia Ridge all the way to the Green Mountains. With the shutdowns in place, our hike was extended by about 3/4 mile on each end since we had to park far down the entrance road, but it was good to get the accomplishment done and be back in time for dinner.
